Donald J Trump – Creator of Fake News, Destroyer of Democracy

As vocal as Donald Trump has been about the existence of “fake news,” he always seems to be the source of it.  Again, I call on Trump supporters to stop being closed minded and stop hanging onto every word Rush Limbaugh says, and genuinely look for the truth.

Trump has been great at rallying crowds of hardcore Republicans with false claims about the media being out to get him, but it’s all nonsense and it needs to stop.

Recent claims that President Obama wiretapped Trump Towers have not only been proven to be false, but even GOP leaders have stepped up and admitted that they have ZERO evidence to support these claims.

In an age where politics tend to override common sense, common decency, and accountability, it’s refreshing to see some GOP leaders put party aside and admit that the President’s claims are nonsense.

For that I applaud them.

America deserves better than a President that feels the need to create fake stories to divert attention from his scandal of the week.  We need to restore integrity and honor to the White House or risk losing the respect of the world, and that can only be done if Republicans and Democrats work together to put an end to fabricated news coming from Washington.

Trump has time and time again thrown out unsubstantiated claims as a smoke screen to the truth.  It’s like clock work.  As soon as the heat starts building on him, a new and wild allegation comes out.  It’s juvenile and beneath the office of the President of the United States of America.

It’s time that America unites and holds him accountable for his actions, his words and his nonsensical fake news.

Trumpocrisy Strikes Again

As inept and unstable POTUS Donald Trump was giving a speech about Making America Great Again by buying American and Hiring American, and claiming that it’s not just a motto – it’s a pledge, news spread that his daughter currently has approximately 53 tons of Chinese products in shipping containers on their way to the United States.

So my question to Disastrous Donald…Is Ivanka going to send back the 53 tons of Chinese shoes and clothing and pay a fair price to make them in the United States?

We all know the answer and we once again see proof that Donald Trump is in this for the Trump Organization, not the American people.

On the “Hire American” front, you may remember that Trump claims that he has to hire immigrant workers at his Florida golf club because “getting help in Palm Beach during the season is almost impossible.”

Records show that since 2010, approximately 300 U.S. residents have applied for waitstaff and housekeeping jobs at Mar-a-Lago, but only 17 have been hired.

Trump supporters need to open their eyes and open their minds just a little and start facing the truth. Donald Trump’s hypocritical actions speak louder than the words written for him on the teleprompters.

FOX News Reports Trumps “Flexibility” on Issues

I find it humorous that the only non-politician in the Presidential race is acting the most like a political stereotype.  Trump has been called out numerous times, once by FOX News itself, for flip-flopping on hot topics to tell the voters exactly what they want to hear.

Now, on the topics of minimum wage and taxes on the wealthy, FOX is calling it “flexibility.”

The bottom line is that Trump will say whatever he needs to say to pander to the voters.  When he was trying to win over Republicans, he was firmly against a minimum wage hike and would never consider raising the taxes of the rich.

But now that he’s got the Republican seat locked down, it’s time to start pandering to the swing voters that may be a little more liberal.  So now his “flexibility” is coming into play.

It really saddens me to see how many Americans don’t see through this crystal clear facade.  It doesn’t say much for the intelligence of our nation as a whole when someone like Donald Trump can manipulate masses like this.

He’s not even truly a Republican, but because he put his name on the GOP ticket and went around for a few months bashing Democrats, now every Rush Limbaugh-loving conservative has been drawn into his web.

It really is amazing!

Mario Williams Makes Wise Business Decision – Nothing Personal

Mario Williams signed a 6 year contract with the Buffalo Bills today that could be worth as much as $100 million and includes $50 million guaranteed.

The Houston Texans, as much as they hate to lose him, absolutely could not make numbers like that work without sacrificing key players.

Williams has been a great player for the Texans and the community is losing an absolutely great person.

He has been generous, humble and hard-working throughout his time in Houston and people need to understand that he had no choice but to go to Buffalo.

Hearing “fans” criticize him about being all about money is absolutely absurd and quite frankly, disappointing.

Williams would have given the Texans a small discount to stay, but at the end of the day the guy has to make choices that impact the rest of his life.

One caller said “What’s the difference between $40 and $50 million?”

The answer is quite simply, $10 million dollars.

When it’s all said and done and Mario’s career is over, it is likely that he will make approximately $125-$150 million dollars.  $10 million is about 7% of his earnings for his career.  That’s a lot!

Would you give up 7% of your lifetime earnings to stay with your current employer?

Just to put that in perspective, it would be like asking a guy that works for 35 years making $50,000 a year to give up $122,000.  It just doesn’t make sense.

And yes, there is a difference because of the millions of dollars that he earns, but the guy also has a much shorter career than the average person.  He has to not only make as much as he can to provide for his family for the rest of his life, but he also has to make sure that he leaves as much as he can to his family after he’s gone.

Mario made the right choice and Houston fans need to understand that it wasn’t personal and wish him the best in the future.

Mario is a good guy making a smart business decision.

Business aside, let’s get back to the field.

The Texans had to make a choice this off-season whether or not to keep Mario or Arian Foster.

Foster is the cornerstone of their offense.  Without him, they’re mediocre at best.

Williams on the other hand was replaced quite nicely last season after he suffered a torn pectoral muscle.  Rookie J.J. Watt came in and the defense never missed a beat.

So Williams, as great as he is, was expendable.   Does he make the defense better?  Probably.  But is he worth $10-15 million of cap space when his backup is not far behind him in production?  No.

The Texans will be fine without him.  Getting him off of their books frees up money to re-sign key players and go after some quality free agents.

Mario will also be fine.  He’ll be in a pass-happy division and be able to utilize his pass-rushing skills against the likes of Tom Brady and Mark Sanchez.

Bottom line…the Texans made a good business decision and so did Mario.

Rush Limbaugh: The Posterboy for Misongynistic A-holes

Have you ever played the game telephone and seen how badly a phrase or story gets twisted as it gets interpreted by different individuals?  Well that’s nothing compared to how extremist Republican talk show host Rush Limbaugh has twisted events surrounding Sandra Fluke.

Fluke is a Georgetown law student who was lobbying to have her birth control medication covered by the insurance of  the university.

She wasn’t protesting or causing a distraction to anyone, simply exercising her right to respectful free expression.  But for some reason Limbaugh was offended by her actions and used his radio show as a platform to attempt to destroy her character in front of a national audience.

In his opinion, covering the cost of her birth control is a “welfare entitlement.”

His interpretation of her request was that she “goes before a Congressional committee and essentially says that she must be paid to have sex.”

Really?  She said she must be paid to have sex?  The guy is an absolute moron that twists every event in such an extreme way to get his thoughtless followers fired up and enraged.

He went on to call Fluke a “slut” and a “prostitute.”

“She wants to be paid to have sex. She’s having so much sex she can’t afford the contraception. She wants you and me and the taxpayers to pay her to have sex.”

Can someone please explain to Mr. Limbaugh how women’s birth control works and that it is the same cost regardless of how much sex they have?  And while you’re at it, please explain to him that birth control is not simply used for contraception but can be prescribed for other health issues, like irregular menstrual periods, menstrual cramps, acne, PMS, endometriosis, and for Polycystic Ovary Syndrome.

It would be my hope that his listeners would see how badly he twists the truth on an everyday basis but the IQ level of his audience probably isn’t high enough to put 2 and 2 together.

It is great that his sponsors are all leaving him.

Rush Limbaugh is a misogynistic a-hole and I hope that his ivory tower comes crashing town on him.

War in Iran is “not a game!”

(Credit: AP Photo/Pablo Martinez Monsivais)

After four years of bashing the President about government spending as he tries to bail the nation out from the mess that Republican President George W. Bush got us into, Republican candidates are now bashing him for not jumping into a war with Iran.

President Obama continues to maintain peace the best he can through diplomacy and strict sanctions, but GOP candidates apparently believe that America should drop bombs first and ask questions last.  Did any of these candidates witness the Bush administration’s years in the White House?

In an address to a pro-Israel group meeting in Washington, Mitt Romney declared that, “as president, I will be ready to engage in diplomacy, but I will be just as ready to engage our military might.”

Is he implying that the President isn’t willing to engage in military action when necessary?  Did he forget who got Osama Bin Laden after a Republican President chased him for eight years?

This attitude that America is the super power that should flex its “military might” anytime anyone in the world does anything against our policies is the attitude that makes America the most hated nation in the world.

President Obama has flexed enough power already with the implementation of some of the strictest sanctions ever and at this point there is no reason to jump into a war that will further cripple our economy.

It is also funny that all of the GOP candidates are blaming the Obama Administration for gas prices to try to win votes of people who aren’t smart enough to understand that the accusations are ridiculous yet every one of them is ready to start bombing Iran immediately, which would send gas prices easily into the $5.00 range.

Only Ron Paul, who I normally disagree with, is intelligent enough to understand that Iran is not an immediate threat and that diplomacy, not the immediate use or threat of force is needed.

If diplomacy fails, then let’s put the military into action.  But at this point it would not be wise to go in with guns blazing.  The President’s response was exactly right when he said that “war in Iran is not a game.”

President Obama went on to say “When I see the casualness with which some of these folks talk about war, I’m reminded of the costs involved in war; I’m reminded of the decision that I have to make, in terms of sending our young men and women into battle, and the impacts that has on their lives, the impact it has on our national security, the impact it has on our economy.”

Let’s not forget that even though we’re in an election year and it’s easy to get caught up in a campaign and winning, we still have a nation to run and we must continue to do what is in the best interest of our nation and put the politics aside.

I think it’s important for everyone in America to understand that the two-party system is supposed to be there for checks and balances, not to create two Americas.

Let’s start working together instead of fighting each other based solely on party affiliations.  God Bless the USA

U.S. Postal Service Cutting 28,000 Jobs

The U.S. Postal Service has announced that they will be closing down mail processing facilities and eliminating approximately 28,000 jobs as they attempt to make the business financially viable once again.

The change will impact more than just the 28,000 postal workers losing their jobs. It will also slow down the delivery of standard first class mail by 1-2 days.

The loss of 28,000 jobs is a tragedy and I feel extremely sorry for these individuals and their families.

However, it doesn’t take a genius to figure out where the problems are in the failing postal service.

I have paid close attention to the mail carriers in my area over the past year and I can tell you without a doubt, these people were overpaid and underworked.

I first started paying attention when I noticed that our mail carrier was arriving at our apartment complex at around 11:00am every day, but I wasn’t getting my mail until about 5:15pm.

I started questioning how it could possibly take 6 hours to deliver the mail to one complex.

There were approximately 600 apartments, but only four mailbox areas. I found it odd that when the carrier got to the area where my mail box was located, it only took about 20-30 minutes for her to finish the entire section.

Doing the math, I’m figuring 4 mail areas at 20-30 minutes each should take about 80-120 minutes….correct? So why is it taking six hours instead of two?

Then one day I noticed that it wasn’t just one carrier delivering to our apartment complex. There were actually two carriers, each responsible for two of the mail areas. So it should only take an hour, max….correct?

Now I was curious and decided to investigate a little more.

I watched the carrier pull up at 11:05 at one of the apartment mail areas. The second carrier pulled up shortly after at 11:15 and “helped” the first fill the boxes at the first mail area.

At 11:40, they were finished and drove away, but they left the complex. Confused, I went on with my day.

I left to run an errand and noticed the two mail carriers parked at the Chick-fil-a next to our complex at 11:55.

I went on with my errand and upon returning at 1:40, noticed that not only were the two mail carriers still at Chick-fil-a, but two others had joined.

I continued home, unloaded a few bags from my errands and then decided to take a walk around the block just to see when the mail carriers would get back to work.

I walked past Chick-fil-a once at 2:05….still there.

I walked past again at 2:15….one truck was gone, but the two from our complex were still there.

I walked past again at 2:30…finally, the remaining three carriers were walking out of the restaurant and getting back in their trucks.

So the nearly three hour lunch was over and the carriers were headed back to our complex.

When they returned, they parked at separate mail areas but one walked across the complex and met the other to tag team the delivery.

They finished that mail area at 3:25 and went back to the other mail area. They finished that mail area in an hour and at 4:30, one left the complex (to head home I assume) and the other headed over to the final mail area at our complex.

She parked in front of the mail boxes at 4:35 and and started sorting mail in the back of her truck.

At 4:50 she started putting mail into the boxes and at 5:15 drove away.

Now in full disclosure, I have no idea how much these carriers are paid, but the USPS shows on their website a salary range of $42,268 – $65,691 for carriers. Considering that both of these ladies were older (I’m guessing 60+), I would assume that they are in the upper half of that range.

It is no wonder that the USPS is going bankrupt and collapsing before our eyes if they are paying carriers $60,000 to do 3-4 hours of work each day. In case you’re wondering, that’s $48/hour if they work 6 days a week, $58 if they work 5.  There are people out there that would kill to make a $60,000 salary and would be willing to work 40+ hours to do so.  Making this while working 15-20 hours is insane.

It all comes down to management. Why is a manager not riding with these carriers occasionally to make sure that they are delivering enough mail to keep them busy for eight hours?

A simple ride-along would show that these carriers are not given enough work to justify their salary. You either give them a more substantial route or you pay them as part-time employees.

But it’s not the carriers losing the jobs. It’s the processors. Good call on that one geniuses.

This is a typical government operation that allows lazy individuals to make money at the expense of others. Where are the audits and management of these operations?
